MACHAT studied at the Fine Arts School of Montparnasse and with Japanese Pottery Master Tanimoto in Paris. In the early 80s she discovers steel and it becomes the main material she will use in her work. It will take her years to master this difficult element using fire. She says: “My art is writing with the flames . In the flesh of the steel, I use the blowtorch as my brush.”
