Paolo Buffa (1903 – 1970) was predominantly a furniture and interiors designer, and was recognized as one of the liveliest and prolific Italian architects of the early twentieth century.
Known for the quality of their execution, Buffa’s furniture was much admired by a particularly wealthy stratum of the bourgeoisie. Among his projects, the designer counts the design of the Royal Palace of King of Albania (1940), the furnishing of some of the interiors of the cruise liner Leonardo Da Vinci (1950’s), and the royal yacht Mahroussa of King Farouk of Egypt (1951/52).
With designs that seem to combine traditional, modern and futuristic elements, Buffa is today a kind of maverick, and remains very collectable.
